A doghook — also known as a snap hook, swivel hook, or trigger clip — is the go-to connector for detachable bag straps, keychains, pet accessories, and lanyards. Its defining feature is a spring-loaded gate that opens with thumb pressure and snaps shut automatically, allowing quick attachment and release. The quality difference between a premium doghook and a commodity one comes down to three things: gate spring tension (too stiff and it is frustrating, too loose and it is insecure), swivel smoothness (no binding at any rotation angle), and finish durability (no flaking after months of metal-on-metal contact).
